She is showing interest in reading and writing ( I am not encouraging it....I am not ready!!). Kady is a wonderful big sister who loves making Krista laugh, but she also has a new favorite pass time.....LETS WAKE UP THE BABY!

Here are some fairly recent pics of my two favorite girls....

Goodbye Pacifier

My Mom called me at work today to let me know that Kadence will no longer be taking her paci to bed with her. They were working on a craft and my Mom noticed "That the fine print said that little girls couldn't do this if they still slept with a paci". Kadence quickly agreed that she must be too big for a paci and they needed to do something about it. My Mom let her know that they should box up all the paci's and draw pictures to say goodbye. Then they wrote a letter to the toy company to let them know that Kady is now big enough to do their crafts. She also wanted to know if she was now big enough for Gator Golf and Flipping Frogs....two games I have put off buying due to the mess they will make! Grandma let her know that if she could make it through the week without her paci's then she could go to the store and get the games. Kady asked if they would let her buy them, Mom told her that they would have gotten her letter by then and that they would know she was a big girl now!!! I can't believe she did this without me, but I couldn't be happier. I know she is trying to help, but I hope she is ready to help tonight when I can't get Kady to sleep!!! lol Kadence has been ready for a while to give them up , I just haven't been ready for the battle. Friday night was spent on the wii with a few beers, and Saturday evening we were bowling and playing games at Main Event. Even though it was Valentines Day and Chad and I were supposed to be spending quality time together we had much more fun seeing our "family". We had a child free weekend and used up every minute of it. Movies, shopping, friends, and quality time. I couldn't ask for more....well maybe a three day weekend like everyone else :)
Just wanted to take a moment to reflect on how lucky I am. Great husband, fantastic friends, and Grandparents who take the kiddo's so that I can have a adult weekend!

He did it....

Just a quick note to let everyone know that your prayers paid off. Chad starts a new job at JP Morgan Chase on Monday!! We are all very thankful for this opportunity and I know Chad can't wait to get back to work. Everything about this new job sounds great, hours, salary, chances for bonus and overtime....We are truly blessed. In celebration he took Kadence out for a Daddy day. The went to Toys R Us and bought a butterfly treehouse (catapillers not included). They then went to lunch at Kady's favorite place....Wendy's. Next was a secret mission .... something was painted somewhere.... that's all the info I have (three year olds are not so good with secrets). Finally they ended their outing with a trip to get some icecream. Once they got home Kadence was a sleepy mess. She barly took and nap and was a holy terror that evening!!! None of that matters since she got to have a day with Daddy. I am thankful that he has had this time with his girls.....but it is time to get back to work!!!

Best Teacher Ever.....

I am so lucky to have Sidney in my life. She teaches Kadence while I go and teach other peoples children all day (that sounds strange?). Kadence loves going to school with her friends and Ms. Sidney. She has loved it since the first day! Sidney takes wonderful care of her, puts up with her when she gets a little sassy, and has taught her so many wonderful things. Not to mention she helped potty train her!! Sidney is not only a teacher she is a great friend, and part of our family. She is a wonderful mother to SIX beautiful children. I look up to her as a Mom. She is amaizing. To top it off she is caring and sympathetic to her students and parents needs. Sidney has been so kind to us and is even trying to help us through our tough time right now. I have learned from her that no matter how tough times are in your own house, there is time to help others in need also. Sidney I can't imagine my life without you and I look forward to having you as part of our family in the years to come. You may lose Kadence next year (she is starting big girl school) but you are gaining my other bundle of joy. I wouldn't leave her with anyone else.

You Rock! Well since then he has been working his tail off to find a new position....nothing has come up yet. He had a promising interview last week that we are anxiously awaiting news on. In the mean time we are starting to get stressed out and are getting on each others nerves. The poor guy is home every day with my Mom, who is watching Krista. The only reason she is still watching Krista (since he is home) is in hopes that he will get an interview and have to run out of the house at a moments notice. I think the only reason I am writing this is to vent. I am so pissed off at the whole situation. Chad is such a hard worker and feels so out of place without a job. Not to mention the girls are getting used to him being at home all the time and it is going to be harder and harder to break them of that when he does finally go back to work. Don't get me wrong, it is great having him home when I walk in the door at night......just not for the bill collectors! If you have any spare prayers send them our way, we would really appreciate it. We aren't looking for a multi-million dollar job, just one with a little stability that will keep the bills paid.

As for the girls, they have no idea. They just think Daddy likes being at home and loves to play with them. I hope they always feel that way!

Welcome!!

I have had the pleasure of knowing two of the nicest girls since I was a young teenager. Stacy and I have been friends since 7th grade and I met Emily in High school. All three of us had babies the first time around with in months of each other. No one thought we would like it so much we would do it twice. I had Krista in October and Stacy and Emily both gave birth

to healthy baby boys this week. By the way---They were HUGE compared to my kiddo!

Stacy's son Gavin was 8lbs 2oz and Emily's son Carter was 8lbs 14oz!!! They are both amazingly gorgeous and I can't wait to see them. I know we are all going to be a huge support to each other in the years to come raising our children. I feel blessed everyday to have friends like these Women. Here are pictures of the beautiful boys, Gavin 1/27/09 (left) and Carter 1/29/09 (right).

Kiddo update

Just a quick update on the kids. I spent the first few weeks of summer reading books two and three and then waited and waited until August when the 4th and final book would come out. I WAS OBSESSED. I have read and re-read the entire series 2 or 3 times now. Well yesterday I went to see the movie Twilight....I didn't have high expectations. How could they possibly do the most romantic story ever justice?? How could the Edward I had built up in my head compare to the one that was playing him on screen. I WAS WRONG. I loved the movie, it has turned my love of Edward into an unhealthy obsession :) I was not a fan of the person they chose to play his part, however he has grown on me. His chemestry with Bella onscreen was electric. I am sure I will be seeing the movie again and am counting the days until they begin making New Moon.

Now you all know.....I am a huge dork!

Crazy times!

Between going to the lake to spend time with the family, playing with Kadence, and taking care of little Krista things have been nuts. Kadence has been having a blast at school lately and has been learning lots about the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. She really doesn't care she just knows Christmas comes next :) Krista has had a bout of thrush (bad mommy didn't know what it was and let it get pretty bad before I got her medicine) and now she has a cold. No fever, eating tons and still sleeping normally have kept me from hauling her up to the Dr. I am convinced the reason she got the cold is because we have been up there so much. If it isn't better by Monday I will be lugging her back up for someone to tell me to do exactly what I am already doing at home! I have been doing well, just terribly sleep deprived. Some of that is my fault due to the fact that I finally went out with some girl friends for a drink the other night and didn't come home until Midnight....bad idea when you have a new baby to get up with. Chad is working hard and finding new things to do to his new car on a daily basis. We are headed to Austin for the Holiday and will be back on Sunday. I am hoping it is drama free and that I don't come back totally stressed out.
Today is a big day for us at Tech fans. We are playing OU and need to win. It is the biggest game in history if you ask a Tech Alum. I am looking forward to my friends coming over tonight to watch the game (they have a daughter Kadence's age and they will keep eachother very busy). I can't wait for some adult conversation (baby talk since Stacy is pregnant) and some adult beverages :)

What the rest of us have been up to....

Kadence has decided that she no longer wants to wear pull-ups to bed at night. Last night she actually cried before bed because she didn't want to wear one :( I felt guilty when I noticed that she had just had a whole bottle of water and there was no way she was going to make it through the night without an accident. I told her that we would start trying to go to bed in big girl panties after we get home from the lake this weekend....I mean I am already doing a ton of laundry a day, why not add sheets to that :) I am so proud of her but I can't believe how big she is getting. Even though I am off work she is still going to "School" 3 to 4 days a week. No it isn't because I am too lazy to entertain her all day or want her out of my hair. I love spending the day with her and really enjoy the days that she stays home, but I have to keep her in her routine. She would have had such a hard time going back to school in Jan if I had kept her home this whole time. Kadence loves going to school and she has actually cried on Saturday mornings when she realizes it is a "stay at home day". She will be home the entire week for Thanksgiving and two weeks for Christmas. I am sure I will keep her home a lot during the holidays so that we can do things I wouldn't usually be able to do since I work. I know she will miss her friends though and beg to spend a day away from Mommy and Public Enemy Number 1 (Krista Ryan). Ok enough about the girls, here is some news about Chad and I. Not much to say about me...I am on leave from work but still check my work email 20 times a day. I try not to worry about my kids since I have a wonderful sub in my room, but I just can't help it some days. I go up and get my grade book once a week so that I can put grades in but that is the extent of my classroom involvement at the moment. I am sure after Thanksgiving I will go up and see the kids and help decorate the room for the Holidays. Chad is enjoying his new car, a Pontiac GTO. Just last night he went to a car show at a Sonic for a meet and greet with other GTO owners. It sounds crazy that he got a new (2 door) car when we had a new baby, but he is so happy. And he bugged the crap out of me asking for it until I finally gave in a said yes. I hope he doesn't teach this habbit to the kids! We are both enjoying my time at home because the house is clean and there have been more homecooked meals in the last 4 weeks than there have been in the last year. He knows how much I am enjoying my time off and I am sure he is secretly terrified that I am just going to refuse to go back to work. Chad and I have been really into Texas Tech football this season (we always are it is just more fun when they are doing well). We are looking forward to watching them beat OSU this weekend! We are spending the weekend at the lake with my parents for my Mom's birthday and excited about the break.

Ok Krista is actually waking up and I never got in the shower....better run!

Sleep....What sleep??

Sleep from 11 pm to 1 am and again from 2 am to 4 am does not equal a full nights sleep. I love my daughter with all my heart but I am starting to think she has it in for me!! One night she will sleep peacefully for 4 hour stretches and then the next night we are partying all night long. She does sleep a lot during the day, but what can I do?? I try and keep her awake, but even when carting her around town running errands, visiting with friends, playing outside with (a very loud) big sister, she sleeps like a log. I will never say sleeps like a baby again, because babies DON'T SLEEP! I hope she gets her days and nights figured out soon because Mommy is starting to look like a zombie and do things like pour orange juice in my coffee instead of milk :( I am not kidding I did this just the other day!

The New Kid On The Block

I thought I would start out by blogging about Krista's birth. On October 2nd I was told that I had to be induced because my blood pressure was high and I was starting to have symptoms of Pre-Eclampsia. So off we went to Baylor Frisco on Monday the 6th at 6:30 in the morning. By 7:30 they had delivered Chad's breakfast (lucky him, I wasn't allowed to eat!), and I had been given a nice big bag of pitocin. That would be when I remembered that contractions hurt and I didn't like it much :) Around 9:30 my Doc broke my water to try and move things along. As usual this didn't do much other than make me hurt more.....I made it an hour before I was begging for my epidural. The lovely anestesiologist (his name was Keven and I loved him) gave me a wonderful pain free day. Fast forward through Chad getting another meal ( yes I was getting bitter) and still not much progress. Around 4:30 they decided I could try to push to get her to come down and that is when we discovered that she was face up...just like her big sister. Go figure this is when my epi decided to wear off. My sister and my Dad were there while I whined and cried (and occaisionally cussed like a sailor) waiting for her to turn over. I started pushing while a nurse tried to turn her and after about 20 or 30 min she did finally turn!! YAY!! Well that is what I thougth too... They nurses told me to stop pushing and that the doc was on the way down...she is on the 3rd floor and I was on the 2nd. Well it was the longest elevator ride in history because it took her almost 25 min to get to my room while I begged and pleaded with the nurses to let me go ahead and push her out. I mean they had done all the work anyway why shouldn't they get to catch the baby. Well atleast during this little break (read lots of more cussing) I got another boost of epidural from my best friends Kevin. The Doc came in and after 2 YES 2 pushes out came Krista. They laid her on my chest and I immediatly noticed how much she looks like me :) All in all it wasn't terrible (no where near as bad as the 9 months before she got here). My family and friends were all there to support me and meet her as soon as she got here. Of course I wasn't talking to anyone until I got my dinner lol . We spent two quiet days in the hospital with lots of visitors and very little rest. Now that we are home, I can't believe how much I have forgotten since Kadence was born. It is a little like learning how to do it all over again.
